Christian Luke Ottinger
Bio
I am a music teacher out of Tempe Arizona. I have wanted to be a music educator since the age of 12 years old. My time as a problem student has really guided my journey as a teacher. Music classes were the one time a day when I felt I could express who I was and be the student I knew deep down I could be. I took a journey from near high school drop-out to a high-level student from my Music Education program at Arizona State University.

Many may have left this detail out of their education profile; however, the admin at MDN was so integral to helping me begin my transformation and journey. I attended Scottsdale Community College where I met many individuals that helped reshape the way I think about and express myself through music. My teachers there guided me as a professional musician and gave me the tools I needed to pursue music as not just an educator but as a performer. I finished my Education at Arizona State University with a degree in Music Learning and Teaching where I focused on Vocal Instruction, Choral Direction, and surprisingly began studying the construction of Contemporary General Music classes under the tutelage of Dr. Evan Tobias and Richard Maxwell.
Employment
I am currently a Piano and Vocal instructor at two AZ locations for the School of Rock music school. The School of Rock focuses on a song-first approach to teaching music which inspires accountability through a performance program. The programs welcome learning by ear as opposed to traditional music programs. My experience in creating plans for general music programs has informed my personal instruction style at SOR
